Time-lapse video expert Natilon integrates its solution with Hikvision IP cameras to transform the functionality of existing hardware ecosystems
Natilon, one of Türkiye’s leading providers of cloud-based time-lapse video solutions, has integrated its SaaS-based visual management platform with Hikvision IP cameras. It is a very simple way for companies to transform their existing hardware into an extremely powerful cloud-based construction monitoring and time-lapse system. We spoke to Ali Serdar Kiliç, the co-founder and CEO of Natilon, to find out more.

Q: Could you please tell us about yourself and your company?
I am the CEO, and one of the co-founders, of Natilon. When we started the company back in 2012, our mission was to document and preserve long-term visual records of physical transformations in challenging environments. To do that we developed industrial time-lapse systems and cloud-based construction documentation technologies.
Over the years we have evolved from a hardware-focused engineering organization into a cloud-native visual management platform provider, operating as an R&D company within Kadir Has University Technopark in Istanbul. During this time, we have processed more than 25 million high-resolution frames across multiple continents, supporting construction projects, infrastructure development, and engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contractors with structured visual intelligence.
Q: Why do companies use time-lapse solutions such as yours?
We deliver integrated solutions that combine construction time-lapse software with a visual documentation platform and long-term data archiving. It’s a combination that delivers a very broad range of benefits to different customer departments, each of which face different challenges.
Marketing, communications and investor relations departments, for example, often want high-resolution time-lapse recordings of large construction projects to show the progress to stakeholders and potential customers. Others are interested in long-term visual archiving and risk management. Engineering, legal, and project management teams, for example, often need a structured visual archive of their construction projects to support tasks such as claims management, risk mitigation, and project lifecycle documentation.
Q: Can you please explain the key features of the Natilon solution?
Our solution, which is called the Natilon Time-Lapse Cloud, is a SaaS-based visual management platform designed for monitoring construction progress and creating long-term visual documentation.
The platform collects scheduled snapshots from connected IP camera systems – including Hikvision devices – and processes them through a cloud-based video rendering pipeline. This enables automated time-lapse video production in up to 8K resolution on daily, weekly, or monthly cycles.
The system includes a dashboard that provides centralized management of multiple construction sites, enabling users to track project progress frame-by-frame through a timeline-based visual interface.
It’s worth noting that, although we naturally support standard IP cameras, our system delivers enhanced value when combined with self-sustained camera systems, as these make it possible to build fully independent and zero-infrastructure deployments across remote construction sites. Hikvision’s wireless cameras that support 4G/5G or solar power or both, of course, are very good choices in this sense.
Q: Why did you decide to partner with Hikvision?
It was a fairly obvious decision for us. After all, many construction sites and industrial facilities around the world already use Hikvision IP cameras. It makes great sense, therefore, for us to build on this ecosystem and use our technology to transform their existing hardware into a cloud-based construction monitoring and time-lapse system. It’s a very simple way to deliver this functionality and requires very little additional IT complexity.
For effective construction monitoring solutions, however, the performance of edge devices is absolutely critical. It’s worth emphasizing, I think, that in this context, Hikvision’s industrial-grade portfolio of IP cameras gives our platform the stable data acquisition it requires. What’s more, it does this, even in the most demanding environmental conditions.
Q: Can you explain how the IP integration works and how important this is for you and your customers?
I think simplicity for our customers is key here. The good news is that the integration between Natilon and Hikvision devices is based on secure communication protocols within the Hikvision Technology Partner Program (TPP) ecosystem. This means the onboarding process couldn’t be simpler. Once a Hikvision camera is installed, it can be connected to the Natilon platform and structured visual data can start being transmitted straight away. It’s a highly streamlined workflow and supports scalable deployments across multiple construction sites.
Q: How do you see your partnership with Hikvision evolving in the future?
At Natilon – particularly as we are associated with the Kadir Has University Technopark – nothing stays the same! We are continually evolving our platform with a strong focus on AI-powered construction analytics, computer vision, and automated progress tracking.
As part of this evolution, we are also evaluating Hikvision’s HEOP 2.0 embedded platform, which could enable a more distributed edge AI architecture. This would allow lightweight processing at the camera level, improving bandwidth efficiency and enabling more advanced hybrid edge-cloud video analytics systems for construction environments.
More generally, our partnership with Hikvision represents a shift in how video monitoring infrastructure is utilized in enterprise environments.
Beyond traditional security use cases, IP camera systems are increasingly becoming part of a broader construction data ecosystem, supporting intelligent project lifecycle documentation, operational efficiency, and risk management.
